Homework is going to be for each subject individually.

1. Math: Ms. Charlene Linkous

Canvas Page (login with M.’s account).

The best thing to start math with is probably the family resources. Talk about shapes, lines, angles. Talk about how two points, AB, define a line, and three points, DEF, define an angle.

2. Geography: Ms. Dana Mazer

Canvas Page (login with M.’s account).

Intro by the teacher: Currently working on Five Themes of Geography, see this link for more information. Will be moving on to the geography of Europe next, then for history go to Ancient Greece. Will keep Canvas updated with resources.

3. Science II: Ms. Danielle Brasauskas

Canvas Page (login with M.’s account).

Intro by the teacher: With regards to our curriculum- it is brand new in 7th grade this year. It is new for all 7th grade teachers across the county, and the first time it has been implemented. With that being said, we are learning as we go; however, there is an abundance of resources available online. We are now using OpenSciEd curriculum. It is open-sourced, so everyone has access to it.

I am registering on OpenSciEd (openscied-org@lumenssolutions.com) to be able to access the materials. The following link to the unit on Open SciEd:

4. Language Arts: Ms. Tara Hernbroth

Canvas Page (login with M.’s account).

Intro by the teacher: One thing that I have that can best facilitate your assistance at home for Melani is our Canvas page. On Canvas, I post the weekly slides each Monday. You will be able to see what we are doing for the entirety of the week there. It is located under "Modules" and is labeled "Weekly ELA Lesson Overview". Likewise, I do have a syllabus that has all of the potential books we read. I can tell you that this first unit we are focusing on an independent read. Melani will be able to choose what book she wants to read and will then annotate it. I am introducing this next week. If may help to begin thinking about books she may want to read.

Look at reviewing the slides for the week and identifying days where there is something I can prepare her for.

5. String Orchestra: Mr. Ben Denne

Canvas Page (login with M.’s account).

Regarding materials: strings shouldn’t be breaking, we’ll get cheap strings at Mike’s Music for now if needed. Book: was sold out, will look at that next week. Tuner app: should buy and download for M.

6. Theater Arts A: Ms. Jessie Gilson

Canvas Page (login with M.’s account).

Intro by the teacher: With regard to covering material at home, on our canvas page for the course, I have an introduction to each Unit as we move through them. You can absolutely look to that when covering/reviewing after school. All of our assignments will also be posted there as we move through the year.

7. Physical Education: Mr. Stephen Wishnies

Canvas Page (login with M.’s account).

Intro by the teacher: First, welcome to the EMMS family and rest assured that Melani is coming to an amazing school! Thank you for being so transparent with the situation, it will be very helpful knowing these things moving forward. Here is a link to the HCPSS PE Curriculum. You can scroll down and look at any grade level you would like. We can discuss any specifics you'd like in person on Thursday. If you need me for anything don't hesitate to reach out!

I don’t think I’m going to worry much about homework for PE.
